Minister of Energy Mustapha Guitouni has participated in the 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting, held in New Delhi, India, from 10 to 12 April 2018.

The objectives of this session is “to understand the main factors favoring access to sustainable energy and highlight all the benefits that can be derived, because, the access to energy is crucial for sustainable development”.

It was recalled that almost one billion people do not have access to electricity, particularly in Africa, while another billion have access to it only intermittently and the third of the world’s population depends on traditional energy resources, noted the same source.

“Access to energy is a key element for achieving sustainable economic, environmental and social development,” pointed out the same statement.

This session was also an opportunity to explore ways and means to reduce energy poverty.

Regarding the development prospects of the sector in the field of hydrocarbons, the minister mentioned the provisions that are underway for a better attractiveness of investments in the sector.
